The role of the surgeon is to take responsibility for the overall success of the operation. It is the surgeon who will perform the opeation with the assistance of highly qualified theatre staff including an anaethetist, a theatre sister ............etc. You will have had various consultations with the surgeon prior to the operation to assess your condition and to ensure that the procedures being undertaken are an appropriate course of action to best resolve your problem. The surgeon should have fully explained what will happen during the course of the operation and the subsequent course of treatment and recovery. |
