Even though it is done as a day case how long after the operation should I stay in hospital?

A.

2-3 hours

 

 

Q.

When will I be able to bend my knee?

A.

The next day.

 

 

Q.

When will I be able to put weight on my knee?

A.

Immediately after the operation.

 

 

Q.

When will I expect to have full recovery and use of my knee?

A.

About 4 weeks post-operatively.

 

 

Q.

How long should I stay off from work?

A.

Physical work - Two weeks
Sedentary work - One week or less

 

 

Q.

Will I require any physiotherapy after leaving hospital?

A.

No.

 

 

Q.

Will I require walking aids, i.e.. crutches/stick?

A.

Not usually.

 

 

Q.

When will I be able to drive?

A.

After about 4 days.

 

 

Q.

When can I recommence sporting activities?

A.

Both normal and impact sports - 4 to 6 weeks.

Q.

Are there likely to be any post-operative complications?

A.

Complications after arthroscopic surgery are very uncommon. They may include persistent swelling, and very rarely infection (less than 1%.)
